The story begins with our Founder, Dakore Egbuson-Akande and her divine pivot towards adopting a natural approach to life in her late teens to early twenties. She brought natural hair to the forefront of consciousness with her well groomed, dreadlocks which inadvertently set her apart in the Nigerian film industry popularly known as Nollywood. That interest spilled into skincare and she started using products to care for her skin. Ingredients with cocoa butter and later on shea butter because she used to have dry skin on her outer body especially arms and legs as well as an overall lack of radiance. As she started to travel the world she started collecting different products and formulations but still yearned for something with a great scent that was as close to nature as possible in keeping with her holistic approach to life. She was motivated by her close friends Caterina Bortolussi and later Francesca Rosset of Kinabuti to create her own skincare line blending essential oils with its aromatherapy benefits with the skin healing/reviving properties of our homegrown African Shea butter and so the journey of DakoreBeauty began! She partnered with a recipient of the “Dare to Dream” project for youth empowerment spearheaded by Kinabuti - Sandra Ana who is a young beauty entrepreneur being groomed for success by the project (of which by now Dakore in her capacity as an Actor/Humanitarian of note had been a juror several times) so the synergy was definitely there. With that we started creating the blends with almost 2 years of R&D to what we have today using pure, natural Shea butter and Black soap as the base infused with the right essential oils such as jasmine oil, jojoba oil, sunflower oil etc taken to the next level in terms of packaging, formulation and worldwide reach due to our Founders illustrious acting career and diaspora/global brand influence. #African2.0
